I always look good. [ He does, however, wink to let M know he's joking before settling down into the booth. ] All right, M, now's your time to spill. What've you been up to these past, oh... three, four months?

[There's also some drama right now with his boyfriend, and while he's not opposed to sharing that, he figures the very beginning of the conversation isn't a good place to start.]

[ That... is only technically correct, but Magnus will roll with it. M hasn't exactly shared much, but that's okay. He can't expect the guy to, after how long it's been. ]
You know me, I, uh... I keep plenty busy. I got my job and my dogs and my gig at the shelter and the kids back home to look after, when they're not looking after me. All that and getting fat. [ He pats his midsection, not looking too unhappy about it. Truth be told, he's gotten bigger since his arrival here - good, happy living and an abundance of food will do that to you - but if anything, he's lost a little weight since then. Turns out wrestling and engaging in an illegal fighting ring is good for working away all those calories. ]

[ He admits to that part with thoughtless cheer because - well, it's true. Why not say it? They're a pain in the ass sometimes (Angus more than Tina; that brat doesn't know when to quit) but he adores them more than life itself. ]

[M feels a dull ache as he says that, realizing yet again that he still misses Dickie and Bucky, despite both of them leaving over a year ago.
He mentally pushes the thought aside and pulls out his phone, holding it out for Magnus to see. It's a very cute rat cage with a bunch of really cute rats.]
I don't know if you knew Piper, but after he left he bequeathed me his rats. I've also now got Francisco the Chinchilla too.

[ Magnus reacts predictably, which means forgetting they were talking about kids at all in favour of cooing over the rats in the picture. ]
You gotta let me meet them one day! [ He pauses. ] Sorry about your friend. But look at these little stinkers! They got a whole play-pen!

Well what kind of date would this be without a movie? When we're done here we can go back to my place, meet the mischief, and I will remedy that you've never seen Sweeney Todd.
[He takes back his phone for a moment, flipping through his pictures. He finds one with Andrew holding Francisco the Chinchilla.]
