It's okay, it's pretty common to unofficially adopt some kids while you're here.

[M feels a dull ache as he says that, realizing yet again that he still misses Dickie and Bucky, despite both of them leaving over a year ago.

He mentally pushes the thought aside and pulls out his phone, holding it out for Magnus to see. It's a very cute rat cage with a bunch of really cute rats.]

I don't know if you knew Piper, but after he left he bequeathed me his rats. I've also now got Francisco the Chinchilla too.

Oh shit, they're adorable!

[ Magnus reacts predictably, which means forgetting they were talking about kids at all in favour of cooing over the rats in the picture. ]

You gotta let me meet them one day! [ He pauses. ] Sorry about your friend. But look at these little stinkers! They got a whole play-pen!

[See this is why they're friends. They can enjoy each others rat mischiefs.]

Well what kind of date would this be without a movie? When we're done here we can go back to my place, meet the mischief, and I will remedy that you've never seen Sweeney Todd.

[He takes back his phone for a moment, flipping through his pictures. He finds one with Andrew holding Francisco the Chinchilla.]

And this is Francisco.

Hell yeah! I want to meet all of them. You can tell me all their names once we get there, too.

[ He takes M's phone back, peering at the picture of the chinchilla with a smile. He's cute too. All animals are cute. ]

Awww, look at him! Who's the dude holding him? A friend of yours?

Sounds like a plan.

[M smiles, but it doesn't fully meet his eyes.]

That's Apollo. My boyfriend.

[ But M doesn't look thrilled about it. ]
