If you're a fan of fights and explosions. Yes.

I've got assets who I go to if I need pop culture explained to me. I'll find something else.

Assets? What about just friends with more know-how? Or is that what you call them?

I'm still relatively new to the concept of friends.

[fauxmarth]

Really...? So, does that make me less a friend and more a...[an asset?] A what?

[M shakes his head.]

No, you're a friend.

Assets are more... People who call me when they need something. Or I call when I need them.

[fauxmarth]

[a thoughtful sound.]

Allies? Aides? [these are softer terms, she thinks. USE THEM!!]

No one in my asset network is disillusioned to think our relationship is anything other than transactional.


And I believe we were discussing movies?

Right-- forgive me. Ah...well. I...haven't seen very many, but...anything with a happy ending seems like a good start.

I just don't want you thinking that I'm taking advantage of these people.

Or that I don't take contributions lightly.

What about books? What kind of genres do you gravitate towards?

[there's a few little stumbled attempts to cut in and apologize for the inferences, but those get talked over in regard to books.]

Tales of good and brave warriors. Protectors. Ones where evil is justly punished and good rewarded.

I'm trapped in a hospital bed for the foreseeable future; I can almost guarantee I'll be free.

Hey I don't know what your visitation schedule's like.

Tell me the name of the hospital and I'll be there.

[fauxmarth]

[she chuckles.]

It's just outside of Maurtia Falls. I'm told it has blue lights on the outside? But if that's true, I haven't seen it myself.

[In about a half hour, M shows up to the very vaguely-described hospital with a cloth bag. Inside are several DVDS, among them:

- The Princess Bride (he was assured this was a classic)
- The Three Musketeers (the one he was told "doesn't suck")
- The Mark of Zorro (if only M knew the irony)
- Joan (a recent release following Joan of Arc's fight against the English army, without the depressing burning at the stake parts and lots of fictionalized action)
and
- 150 (an all-female 300, only with less sexism and no homosexual undertones, because these filmmakers aren't cowards, so it's all overtones. He was assured it was very gay.)]

If you have a TV in here, great. If not, we can see if I can't sweet-talk one of the nurses into letting me borrow you.

Oh, my...

[thank goodness the bed's already inclined so sitting up in surprise doesn't result in surprise pain.

she gazes down at the bounty dumped on her lap, not wholly processing it all but still delighted nonetheless because company.

beaming at him:] You've brought a treasure trove, M. Thank you! I'm glad to see you again.

Like I said, I might not know pop culture but I do know people with great taste.

[He occupies the seat beside her.]

And it's good to see you again too. I see that if I want to hang out with you, I have to tie you to some kind of heavy furniture.

[fauxmarth]

[she makes a bit of a face.]

I...I suppose that's warranted, considering how poorly I've been managing my time of late. I'm sorry. I never intended to neglect you.

It's fine.

You've been busy doing the superhero thing.

[fauxmarth]

I'm not sure if it ought to be categorized as super...it's often very dingy work. [just thinking about it, she wipes at her forehead, as if to expect dirt there.]

But circumstances aside, at least I've got no excuse not to catch up with you. Even if it means I can't properly spar...
