[ Well, curiosity did kill the cat. And Bucky is definitely a mangy cat. So he goes and falls right to his knees when he comes out the other end. ]

[M's apartment is a large, modern two floor loft with neutral walls, ceilings, and floors, though it's most striking feature is that it has no windows and doors. The first floor, which is what Bucky is currently sprawled on, is an open space with a few columns for support, with the space divided into several areas: the small kitchen area is to his right behind him, with a large island separating it from the rest of the area, the living room, is almost directly to hsi left, with a pleather sofa, sectional, and armchair set up in a u-shape around a sparse entertainment center. In front of him to his left is a large table for eating or planning, and to his right is a billiards table beneath the floating stairs leading to the second floor.

M is sitting in the armchair, looking over the network on his communicator.]

Welcome to my inner sanctum. I should have warned you about the travel.

Gee, you're being too hard on yourself. [ Do you HEAR the sarcasm in his miserable voice? Bucky slowly gets back on his legs, though they feel a little like jelly. ] So what's the big idea, M?

[Motions to the no small shortage of seating he has on the first floor--by the table, by the island, the couches around him... hell Bucky is tiny enough he could sit on the billiards table.]

Cisco isn't sure if the Network is compromised, and while I don't necessarily think it is, I'd rather not take any chances.

Consider yourself lucky. I don't like many people in my home.

Smart. [ He does take a seat, and yes he actually does go for the billiard table. Why go conventional? Bucky is anything but. ] Gee, I feel so honored!

[ And he does, a little. ]

I'll tell you right now you're not going to agree with me, but since you asked... I think everyone's thinking too small. Everyone and their grandmother is sharpening their pitchforks and prettying their torches to get the missing imPorts back.

No one's thinking about what the Soviets are planning to do next. They aren't stopping at kidnapping Dick, Cisco, and the others. They have plans for the rest of us, and most likely this whole damn country. I might not give a flying fuck about this government and its plans, but the people that live here deserve better.

I want to let everyone else focus on the missing imPorts, and I'll try to make sure we won't be blindsided when they make their next move.

I know that, Bucky. But I also know that any attempts I make will have a minimal impact on bringing them home. There's just too many other people involved.

[His friends are there too. He wants them home and hates that they've been blindsided like this. But logic will always override his emotions, especially in a situation like this where being too emotional can get people killed.]

Same way I always do it: start at the bottom and work my way up to someone who knows something.
